January Family Fun – Westchester Family Photographer

It’s time for our monthly family fun activities list! January might bring winter weather, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get out and enjoy it! As a Westchester family photographer, I’m always searching for fun things to do with my own kids that might also give me an opportunity to capture some great images. So, if you’re looking for some ways to get your kids out and active this month, look no further. Cameras not required 🙂

January 4: Muscoot Farm in Somers, NY is hosting a Butter & Bread family event from 12-3. Learn how to churn butter and bake bread! Event price is $10. Contact Muscoot at (914) 864-7286 to get on the list. If you’ve never been to Muscoot, it is an absolutely fantastic place to bring the little guys. As a Westchester County Park, there is no admission to the farm itself. Go explore, see the animals, take a walk on one of the many miles of trails, and enjoy being outside.

January 10: The Warner Library in Tarrytown is hosting The Westchester Balloon Company as they transform balloons into famous Dr. Seuss characters. Bring the kids and enjoy the fun! Pre-register in the children’s room.

January 11: The Greenburgh Nature Center invites you to visit for a magical Winter Walk. Take an easy, guided walk to explore the natural flora and fauna, and investigate what animals do to stay warm in in the winter. Cost is $5 for members, $8 for non-members.

January 16-18: The Paramount Theater in Peekskill presents The Wizard of Oz! I’m a Cowardly Lion fan, myself…if your kids have never seen the movie, this live production would be a great way to introduce them to the classic.

And, don’t forget that the annual Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Gardens continues through January 19!

Outdoor ice skating at the Bear Mountain State Park Ice Rink continues through the season. I took my kids last weekend and we had an absolute blast! Ice skating outdoors, in the sunshine just can’t be beat. Annnndddd…the historic Bear Mountain carousel is right across the walkway!

The Knickerbocker Ice Festival is supposed to be returning to Rockland Lake State Park after a two-year hiatus as well…I’ll update the post when dates are released – it really is an absolutely amazing display of artistry!
