Image Awards – New York Family Photographer

2014 was the year that I made a point to put my photographic work out there. It’s always nerve-wracking to put my own images out there for critique/judgement of others. It’s akin to the anticipation I feel when delivering an image gallery to clients. But, as a New York family photographer, muster up the courage I do. And, in the end, I’m practicing what I preach and trying to take more risks by showing my work to an even wider audience.

So, this year I entered a few images into two juried exhibition shows: The Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and the NAPCP (National Assoc. of Professional Child Photographers) International Image Competition. Eek!

The Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, which is renowned for their educational programming and international exhibitions hosted a juried show centered around water. Yup. That’s it. Water. Judged by Celine Cousteau, no less! How the theme was interpreted was left to the photographers. (I’m reminded of high school English class).

Out of more than 7,000 entries from around the world, my water image titled “Two Feet Deep” was selected as one of the top 100 images submitted! I was, and still am, honored to have been featured amongst so many talented and varied artists!

July also marked the beginning of the NAPCP annual International Image Competition. Members from five continents submitted some of their best works to various subcategories. Of the thousands of images submitted for family, my image titled “Modern Family” received a Recognition of Merit.

I’m honored and humbled to have even been considered amongst such talented artists and visionaries. If you’d like to see more of my work head over to the Children’s Gallery for more recent images. Now, I’m left to wonder what 2015 will bring. I don’t do resolutions, but I do set goals…off to think about what this next year in the life should be 🙂

If you’d like to be part of my 2015, and I hope you do, contact me today to schedule your session time.
