Moms of boys….unflappable, used to the the energy and independence that comes with their brood. What can I say, it’s how we roll 🙂
Maria was no different. When she first contacted me about photographing her “tweenage” sons (with, of course, herself and her husband) I will admit to being a tad nervous. But, sometimes we need to just embrace that nervous energy and move forward. Nothing great was ever achieved by avoiding new situations.
Photographing this family reminded me of a few things. Chief among them, that tweens are just like us. They just wanted to be heard. They want someone to take an interest in what they find interesting. It’s really that simple. Oh, that, and they want their opinions to count. Makes sense, right?
So, I’d say this was a pretty great way to cap off a beautiful fall day. Nothing showy or splashy or sparkly. Just a simple reminder that everyday life with kids, even ones who have exited early childhood, is still pretty remarkable. If we take the time to pay attention, find interest in their interests, and just be…it’s still pretty darn remarkable!
