Originally, I ignored this photo of MJ running in the woods with her “Pup Pup” because the color was irritating me and I didn’t want to deal with it at the time. Luckily, I went back to it a few weeks ago and converted it to black & white (which is PRECISELY what it should have been all along). Just, well, a big happy sigh. For me, this is just everything that childhood should be…exploration, a sense of fun, but still needing the reassurance and security that a favorite stuffed friend brings. Just like those emotions, black & white children’s photography maintains such a timeless & classic feel.
So, sometimes, we get this. We get light and movement and joy and adventure…all rolled into one beautiful little package. As a Westchester County family photographer, I’ve always loved photographing children outdoors. It allows for such exploration and curiosity – I’m always amazed at the wonder on tiny faces when they seen something for the first time.
